In all I have twelve books I have written and I am working on more. This this site will give you information about them all.
I have also written for Dorchester Publishing and for one of their oldest magazines called True Confessions. I grew up reading True Confessions, as well as my mother and sisters, so being able to write for this magazine was a dream fulfilled. I do wish to thank editor and author Nathasha Brooks - Harris for believing in me to provide stories for her magazine. One of the happiest days of my life was when Nathasha Brooks - Harris called me one evening at home to tell me how much she loved my story. I was overcome with joy! She was kind and very generous with her praise of my work. I had never experienced such thoughtfulness before. I had made a typing error on my querry letter to her and she was unable to contact me about my story. She had left a message for me at one of my websites, as well as one of my email addresses. It had been a long time since I had sent that story so I had changed, for the most part, where I checked my mail. It was a miracle that she and I ever hooked up. A true miracle. I believe God had a hand in us getting together, despite my typing error! I will always remember her kindness the day we spoke on the phone. It really has impacted my life as a whole, as well as my writing career. Because of Nathasha my dream of becoming a mainstream author came true. I pray she will be blessed in all she does and I thank her for making my dreams come true.
I am a freelance writer and author, but also a freelance fitness professional. I am certified as a Holistic Fitness Pratitioner, Holistic Life Coach, Holistic Stress Management Specialist, Pilates Instructor, Sport Yoga Instructor, Healthy Lifestyles, Risk Management, and I am also a licensed ordained non-denominational minister. My goals for writing are to use my gift of the written word to help people live healthier, happier lives. My heart has always been fond of romance ever since I was ten years old, but over the years I have been left wanting because deep down I know there is something else in me that needs to be expressed and set free. Ever since I was a young girl of ten I have had numerous books that needed to be expressed and written. I am now embarking on a new path which includes writing in every genre, but also writing self-help motivational and inspirational pieces. Writing on spiritual books is something I am very passionate about. I want to help people and to touch lives with words of comfort and joy.
Ever since I was ten years old I wanted to be a writer, a dancer, and a psychologist. Things didn't work out as I had hoped, however. My family were poor so dancing lessons were out of the question. It was a major thing for us to just have food on the table. I never did get to become that dancer that I had always dreamed of being. That didn't stop me from dancing at home in private, though. I learned to stand on my toes, do the splits, and taught myself dance of every kind. I also began to write stories and poetry at ten years old. I studied self-help books and inspirationals to substitute for my dying dream of becoming a psychologist. Now I am 36 and I am embarking on a new journey in my life. Although I couldn't be a dancer I tried to find some way to substitute that dream for something similiar, therefore I began to teach Pilates which is the workout of ballerina's and dancers. I couldn't go back to school for eight to ten years to become a therapist so I studied and became a life coach and stress management specialist. Then comes my dream of being a writer, which is the biggest dream of all. I am slowly working my way towards this dream with my online books and magazine articles. I still have a long ways to go, but with God all things are possible!
If there were some wisdom that I could impart to anyone out there who is struggling with their writing it would be this, "Don't give up!" and also, "Don't sell your dreams short!" We all have to start somewhere in our lives when it comes to fulfilling our dreams and that is okay, but oftentimes we sell our dreams short by accepting the first good thing that comes along instead of 'shopping around' first. It pays to know the market you cater to and it pays to be careful who you trust in an industry that can be very lucrative and even ruthless. The writing market is very competitive and in my opinion, one of the hardest markets to really break into mainstream unless you know someone in the field who can help you along, or as in the case of J.K. Rowling and her Harry Potter books, you just get a lucky break! That doesn't happen all too often. Keep your dreams alive, shop around, and never be afraid to send in those query letters. I am still doing the same thing as every other author out there in order to make it. What doesn't kill us only makes us stronger!
The pictures you see are of my husband and I. We live here in Kasnas City, Missouri. We are all originally from Tulsa, Oklahoma. My husband's job moved us here several years back. The move was tough on me because I left behind some terrific friends that I love very much. Barbara O'Dell, Brian Carter, and Jamie Davis are more like family than friends. They have been there for me through thick and thin and then some. I have realized that good friends aren't perfect, they are just steadfast and love you no matter what. It's the difference between conditional and unconditional love. My friendship with them is unconditional. No matter what state of mind they are in, where they live, or what they are doing in their lives I still love them the same. That's true friendship. I do have other friends in my life, but they are of the fuzzy critter kind! I have two lovely dogs, Cocoa Puff and Hootie, an onery cat Romeo who is affectionately called Frankenkitty, Hairball, Sir Lick Alot, a stray cat named Scraps whom is a ferrel and I love very much, and a house bunny named Nala. I do love animals very much and I find a kindred spirit with them. They are humble, loving, and non-judgmental. They don't care how fat I become, how much I smell, how dirty I might be, or what I look like. They just love me unconditionally as I am no matter what state of mind I am in. That is an example of the love we as humans should impart on our fellow kind, but that rarely happens, it seems. Animals are a good example of unconditional love.
I live in a modest home in the Northland area of Kansas City, Missouri. I also have some wonderful neighbors that I can honestly call 'friends'. Those wonderful neighbors are Brian and Danielle Lee and their two boys, Raidan and Dakotah. They are wonderful people and have become such a joy to know. They are fun, open, non-judgmental, and are eager to be there for us if we need them, which is often! They are always taking care of our critters when we are out of town and in turn, we take care of their beautiful lizards and hampsters. It is a lot of fun being their neighbors!
