The Phantom Lover
SYNOPSIS
The Phantom Lover is one woman's poetic journey into the realms of obsessive love. As a result of her tragic childhood, this woman's life-changing experiences send her on a lifelong quest for acceptance and confirmed lovability, while spiraling through the disillusionment that only love from a man would make her whole. As a child with a shattered view of her own self-image, she struggles with the concept of what she was taught a female represented to society. She finds herself entangled with degrading relationships, submissive patterns, depression and romanticizing the concept of death, as well as fantasies of a make-believe knight in shining armor to find her redemption. Through self-discovery and deep spiritual reflection, she goes from one extreme of the human emotion to the next, traversing through the deepest depths of physical passions and emotional insecurities until she reaches a destination of truths. Expressing herself through poetic form, she finds ultimate deliverance from her tragic past, while facing the realities of her present.
The Phantom Lover is one woman's quest for human love, yet in the end, it's not the love of a man that sets her free, but the divine deliverance and grace of God.

The Making of The Phantom Lover By Author Dedra Morgan
The Phantom Lover is a poetic novel about a woman's quest through obsessive love. This collection of poetry spans most of my life. It is poetry that was written from my heart through many experiences and hardships. It is based on reality, yet also based on fiction. It is a combination of truth, fantasy, and expressions through every aspect of ones passionate life.
The Phantom Lover is the deepest part of my soul, reflecting so many emotions that are deep within me and hard to express otherwise, yet at the same time expressive in ficticious imagery that holds no basis for what happened in my reality. It is poetry about obsessive love that goes through many fazes, until the obsessed woman realized that obsession isn't love, but obsession.
The Phantom Lover isn't your ordinary love poems. It is an indepth look at passionate, uninhibited romance, that is expressed through poetic form. The cover design for this book was my idea. I went through various photos and tried to find a cover art that expressed what I had in mind. I believe that after much searching that I found the perfect cover. It expresses the passion, the intense emotion, the intense sexual element of self expression, as well as the mystery of the woman and her lover.
